Dishwasher trouble, solved locally
A broken dishwasher means a sink full of dishes and a lot of wasted evenings. King Appliance Repair is based in Land O' Lakes. We fix built-in dishwashers in homes across 34637, 34638 and 34639, and we offer same-day visits when our schedule allows.
The usual suspects
Here are the most common problems:
- Water left in the bottom. A clogged filter, a blocked drain hose or a failed drain pump.
- Dishes come out dirty or gritty. Clogged spray arms, a weak wash motor or low water fill.
- Leaks onto the floor. Worn door seals, a loose hose clamp or a cracked part under the tub.
- No power or a dead panel. A door latch switch or control board, sometimes after a surge.
- Cloudy, spotty glasses. Often mineral scale from our water, or a rinse aid problem.
Florida water and your dishwasher
Much of the water in this area comes from the Floridan Aquifer. Over time, minerals can leave a white film on dishes and build up scale on spray arms and heating parts. Homes on a private well can also get sediment, which can clog the inlet valve screen.
Using rinse aid and cleaning the filter often helps a lot. If the scale has already blocked parts, we can clean or replace them.
Brand-new disposal? Check this first
If a new disposal was put in recently, the dishwasher may stop draining. Bosch notes that its E24 code means the dishwasher is not draining. One cause it lists is a disposal knockout plug that was never removed. That's a small plastic plug inside the disposal's dishwasher inlet. If a new disposal went in and the dishwasher stopped draining right away, this is a likely reason.
Codes you might see
- Bosch E24: not draining, often a blocked filter or hose.
- Bosch E15: the safety switch found water in the base of the dishwasher. That usually means a leak inside.
- KitchenAid F9E1: a long drain time.
- KitchenAid F8E4: water in the drip tray.
Codes help, but we still test before we quote.
Easy checks before you call
Switch off the breaker or unplug the dishwasher first. Then:
- Pull out and rinse the filter at the bottom of the tub.
- Make sure the drain hose under the sink isn't kinked.
- Run the kitchen tap hot before starting a cycle.
- Check that nothing blocks the spray arms from turning.
Fix it or replace it?
Pumps, latches, door seals, inlet valves and spray arms are all repairs that usually make sense. A rusted tub or a leak that has damaged the floor under an older, basic unit may point to replacing it. We give you an upfront quote, and you decide before any work starts. We tell you the visit price on the phone before we come.
