Maytag repairs we handle
Maytag is a familiar name in laundry rooms, and it makes kitchen appliances too. We work on Maytag:
- Washers, top-load and front-load
- Dryers
- Refrigerators and their ice makers
- Dishwashers
- Ranges and ovens
When a Maytag washer won't start
Many of our Maytag calls are about top-load washers. The lid closes, you press start, and nothing happens. Or it locks, then stops with a code.
Maytag's help pages list F5E2 on top-load washers. It means the washer can't engage the lid lock, and there may be something in the way. The lid lock is the latch that holds the lid shut during the spin.
Before you call, check that nothing is caught in the lid or the latch area. A sock or a bit of fabric can stop it from closing all the way. Close the lid firmly and try again. If F5E2 keeps coming back, the lock or its wiring may need a closer look.
For other Maytag appliances, tell us the code shown on your display when you book.
Other Maytag problems we see
- The dryer runs but takes much longer to dry.
- The washer leaves clothes soaking wet.
- The fridge feels warm, or there's frost on the back wall of the freezer.
- The dishwasher won't drain or leaves a film on glasses.
- An oven element or burner won't heat.
Moisture in a Maytag fridge
Maytag's help site shares the same advice as Whirlpool on this. Humid room air causes moisture to build, mostly when the doors open often. A little condensation is normal in humid weather. A gasket (the rubber door seal) that doesn't seal well can make it worse. In our hot, damp summers, a worn gasket is worth fixing early.
Quick, safe checks
First, unplug the appliance or switch off the breaker. Then:
- Make sure the breaker is on and the plug is snug.
- Clean the dryer lint screen before every load.
- Check that the washer's water valves are open.
- Keep the fridge door clear so it shuts all the way.
If you notice a burning smell or smoke from a dryer or oven, turn it off, unplug it or switch off the breaker, and call us.
Booking information
Look for the model and serial label. On Maytag top-load washers, it's often under the lid or on the back. On dryers, look inside the door. On fridges, check inside on a side wall. Send us a photo if you can.
We tell you the visit price on the phone before we come.
